Some pretty sexy and damn expensive designer bikes via Treehugger.

I dig the Fendi style, though the fur saddlebags are a bit scary. The Hermes bike is also uberclassy.

I’ve always had a soft spot for tandem bikes and I’m planning to get one sooner or later. And I would like it to be special, like a person I would share it with. Special just like Renovatia - Tandem in co-operation of German company Zeidler Holzkunst GmbH and the wood technique student Jens Eichler.

The bicycle is made of beech plywood, along with a strong glue (phenol-resorcinol) and some power tools. The grinding and sanding beautifully bring out all the layers in the plywood. Eichler applied five coats of oil in the finishing and polishing phase. The finished frame alone weighs 27.5 kilograms, after Eichler ground 10 kilograms off the plywood. All told, Eichler put some 400 hours of work into the bicycle.

It’s equipped with a 14-speed switching hubs, disc brakes and other highlights- a number of sponsors have supported the project, including bicycle equipment specialist Paul Lange & Co.

Thrilling!

Designer Team Ryan Carroll, Michael Lin & Mark Sanders from AREWARE bring this beautiful folded bike, named IF Mode. Really sexy.

The clean and striking IF Mode is aimed at commuters of the mobile generation who, until now, may have not considered cycling or folding bikes to be an option. IF Mode avoids oily chains, complex tubes with hidden dirt traps, and the clutter of traditional bike features. Meant for city commuters rather than bicycle warriors, it looks at home folded up on a subway or in an office, like other well designed accessories in your life. It also performs on the street like any lightweight, well-balanced full size bike.

Good morning. Check out this killer wooden bike.”
- Lance Armstrong on Twitter

Berlin designer Arndt Menke-Zumbrägel is the creator of this unique bicycle made using wood. The project began by investigating the use of wood as a construction material, paying close attention to its particular considerations. The result is a fully functional bike with a frame weight of 2.3 kg. With some special metal parts and carefully constructed wood pieces, Arndt has created a bike that blends new and old together into one unique package. Make sure to check out the bent wood detail on the rear support.
